My Philosophy & Approach:

It is my philosophy that mediation is the mature, collaborative process through which both parties can arrive at a meaningful resolution, leaving the stress and worry behind.

And, I have 30 years of experience facilitating a wide range of mediation cases, specializing in more than a thousand employment discrimination cases. This experience comes through both my own private practice as well as decades of experience with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Let me put my expertise to work for you, that focuses on your needs, a meaningful and carefully weighed resolution with no red tape, complex fee structures, time wasted worrying about billable hours or hoops to jump through. My focus is entirely on you throughout my simple 4-step process:

Step 1: I begin by gathering both parties in the same room and giving each ample time to state their problem and their perspective. This is meant to be a civil, eye-opening conversation, not a continuation of an agrument or a legal statement of the facts. This is simply an experience faciliation that involves questions and clarifications. In the end, we all want a peaceful, productive and mutually beneficial solution.

Step 2: Once everyone's clear on each other's perspectives, I then meet privately and confidentially with the party pursuing legal action. This gives me an opportunity to dive further into possible solutions by gaining a full understanding of how they envision the solution.

Step 3: Similarly, I then meet with the other party in a private and confidential caucus. This provides the opportunity to explain in neutral terms what the other party is looking to achieve and various options for resolution.

Step 4: Typically, this process then continues with me acting as the diplomat, carefully explaining all risks, benefits and options to both parties as they move closer and closer to an agreeable resolution. Most often this will be a dollar amount that allows them to avoid expensive and stressful litigation.

In my years of experience, I've found that no matter how complicated and sometimes hopeless a situation can appear, about 75% of the time we can find a mutually beneficial solution. If both parties truly want to find a solution, we can make this happen.
